Custom Screen Doors

Summertime means lots of traffic in and out of your house, especially if you have all your friends and family over for an Independence Day bash. Are your doors ready for that? And even when your exterior doors are good, there’s still this thing that happens where someone comes into the house to grab something, leaving the door open behind them…and in come the flies. Summer can be great, but if your doors aren’t up to the job, you might find yourself regretting that party instead of enjoying it.

We can help you with that, just as we helped this homeowner. That fly problem? We built custom screen doors with heavier wire screen on the bottom half to keep out other animals. For a rustic look, we slightly burned the yellow pine frame of the doors:

We installed two new fiberglass exterior doors in place of her old metal ones:

And then we installed her new custom-built screen doors over them:

She’s ready for summer and parties, and so are her doors. What about yours? It may be too late to get new doors before the 4th, but other holidays and other parties will come…will you be ready for them?

Home Improvement

Is it just me, or do more people care about improvement than they used to? For some people, it’s themselves they want to improve, for some it’s society, and for some it’s their homes. But it’s harder to improve anything if you think you have to do it all by yourself, and if it’s your home you’re interested in improving, we would be as delighted to work with you as we were with to work with this gentleman. Today, we’re going to be looking at what it took to transform his home from this:

…to this:

First, we installed several new fiberglass exterior doors and painted the exterior sides of them:

Then we also painted the garage door to match:

Before and after of the front entrance transformation:

We replaced windows all over the house with WindowMart® vinyl windows in the Desert Sand color:

And we replaced the screen doors on the back porch:

We replaced the rotten plywood on the back porch ceiling and re-painted the entire ceiling:

Inside, we removed paneling from some walls and installed drywall, as well as re-texturing and re-painting most of the existing drywall on the interior walls and ceilings, using Sherwin Williams® paints:

Back outside, we installed Alside® vinyl siding and coil trim in the Vintage Wicker color over all the wood siding on the house for a more durable and low-maintenance exterior:

We removed the old shingles from the roof and replaced the decking before installing new Owens Corning® Architectural shingles in the Desert Tan color:

We also updated the homeowner’s shop by covering the walls in Alside® vinyl siding, also in the Vintage Wicker color; replacing the the exterior doors; and replacing the shingle roof with Metal Max® metal in the Taupe color:

What would you like to improve? If it’s yourself or society, we might not be the one you want to call today, but if it’s your home or your shop or your place of business, we just might be able to help you out. Call us at (870) 845-1121 and we’ll find out!

Home Addition

Does your house ever feel a bit cramped? Most of us tend to fill up all the space we have and then we find ourselves wishing for more. If your house is really too small for your needs, your things are probably difficult to find and relationships between people who live there might be under strain. You could move into a bigger house. But what if you really like the house you have now? You just wish there was more of it.

There’s a way to get that. This family chose to have an addition built, and we had the privilege of helping them to enlarge their home.

First things first – the concrete is poured:

From a distance, you can see that the walls are up:

The upper part of the exterior walls was covered in Alside® vinyl siding:

While the lower section got Coronado® stone wainscoting:

The completed exterior, with Tamko® shingles on the roof:

Stepping inside, we see the main room of the addition, completed and already being enjoyed:

For the opening between the addition’s bedroom and bathroom, the owner chose a sliding barn door:

Inside the bathroom, the vanity is custom-built:

As is the linen closet:

The bathroom flower and the shower are both tile:

And while we were there anyway, we also installed and painted several new exterior doors:

What do you think? How much would your home life be improved if you had just a bit more space?

We’d be glad to sit down with you and talk about what it would take to add a room or two onto your home, but we can’t until you let us know that you’re ready for this. Give us a call at (870) 845-1121 today!

Interior Remodel – Part 6 of 8

After walking through the living room, kitchen, master bed and bath, two more bedrooms, and the guest bathroom, in this week’s post we take a moment to peer down the two hallways of this home, and see what they were and what they became.

One long hallway in the demo stage: 20160415_145946New freshly-painted drywall, COREtec® vinyl plank flooring, bold black doors with silver Weslock® doorknobs, and broad white trim make this a whole new hallway: IMG_1954And with a gallery of gold-framed portraits to give it character and make it home, this hallway is complete:2017-01-16 15.27.03

The same hall but from the other end. In this before photo, you can see the new CertainTeed® drywall, just installed:20160510_164554And the same completed hallway from this angle:2017-01-16 15.25.40

The other, shorter hallway with the new drywall installed but not yet painted:20160504_153146Here, too, we painted and installed new flooring, trim, and doors, as well as a new light fixture on the ceiling:IMG_1952And with the homeowner’s interior decor bringing touches of warmth and softness, this hallway is finished:2017-01-16 15.26.56

Not a complicated change, but wasn’t it fun to see? Next week, it’s time to remodel the pantry and utility room. Enter your email on the right or like our page on Facebook to be sure you don’t miss it.
