Rebuilding the Wall

Ever noticed how things often look okay from the outside…

…but on the inside, they’re actually quite awful? This gentleman’s wall, for example, might have seemed fine at first glance, but inside it was rotting away:

Not a great state for a wall to be in. So we removed the windows and tore down the old rotten wall, and then we framed in a new one:

Inside, we insulated the wall with Knauf® batt insulation:

We installed new LP Smartside® siding on the exterior of the wall:

And then we re-installed the homeowner’s vinyl windows. With LP Smartside® trim, the new wall stands tall and strong, both from the outside and the inside:

Are you experiencing something like that – something on your property that looks okay from the outside, but you know that all is not quite right on the inside? Call us at (870) 84-1121 and let us restore your peace of mind.

Exterior Wood Restoration

As anyone who lives in the South knows, exterior wood only lasts so long…but sometimes the breakdown is so gradual that we forget what our homes could look like! This week, we’re looking at the magic that happened when we replaced the exterior wood soffit, fascia, and siding on this home.

Starting out, we take a look at the old eaves, once white, now turning black and rotten:

With new LP Smartside® soffit and fascia trim installed, the eaves are good to go once again:

Another before, during, and after from the back of the house:

While most of this home is brick, some of the exterior walls were covered in old Masonite® siding…which we removed and replaced with LP Smartside® lap siding and trim:

And everywhere we installed new siding, we also painted it with Sherwin Williams® paint:

Not only did we replace the siding, soffit, and fascia, we also removed the old roof shingles and replaced them with Tamko® Heritage shingles in the Rustic Slate color:

The transformed home, beautiful and peaceful in the sun, no longer rotting away at the seams:

Do you have wood siding or trim on the exterior of your home? When was the last time you took a good look at it? Take a minute when you get home tonight and make sure that your house isn’t rotting away around your ears…and if you find that it is, you know who to call! (870) 845-1121

Wooden Porch Steps

Repeat after me: rotten wooden steps are a safety menace. At some point they are going to break, and whoever happens to be the unlucky one who was walking on them at that moment might just find themselves a little bit broken too.

The simplest solution is to rebuild them. Here the old steps have been removed and the new ones are in progress, using Yellawood® treated lumber:

Rotten boards under the porch don’t provide much support…but they can be replaced too:

A sturdy set of new stairs, with a new landing and handrail as well:

Does it look better to you?

With new steps in place, this homeowner can host friends or just use the porch themselves without worrying that they’ll end up with a hospital bill…not to mention how much better it looks.

How are your steps? What about your porch? Still strong and sturdy, or are the boards starting to feel just a little bit spongy and rotten when you walk on them? Are you going to wait until the inevitable accident happens, or are you going to call us at (870) 845-1121 for your free estimate?
