From Porch to Kitchen, Part 2 of 2

Last week, we visited a home where we took a porch and turned it into a kitchen, and we looked at the exterior redesign. This week, it’s time to get inside and see the real transformation.

Starting from the bottom up, we took floors that looked like this:

And, after installing new plywood…

…we installed Adura® Manhattan vinyl flooring to make them look like this:

We installed new drywall on the addition walls, refinished the old drywall, and painted all walls and ceilings with Sherwin Williams® paint:

The homeowner went with wooden trim for her windows, which we then stained:

The addition got a new fiberglass exterior door:

…and the kitchen got a new ceramic tile backsplash:

We built new custom cabinets around the refrigerator:

And then refinished all the original cabinets for a beautiful cohesive kitchen:

And the finished addition, charming and airy:

Isn’t it lovely? Not only does she have so much more space, but anyone would be thrilled to be a guest at that table! Can you say the same about your house? If not, or if you’re just longing for a bit more elbowroom…call us at (870) 845-1121 for your free consultation.

Shiny New Vinyl Flooring

Once flooring is several years old, you just don’t want to look at it too closely. Especially carpet. Though vinyl and tile flooring may get damaged, you can still clean those floors pretty thoroughly, even considering all the people and pets who walk on it on a daily basis. But carpet? Even with carpet shampoos and steam cleaners, there’s just that dirt that will climb down deep and stay there. And then there are the stubborn stains.

Sometimes, it’s just best to start all over. Tear out the square vinyl tile and the carpet…

…install Hardiebacker® cement board for a solid backer board foundation for your new floor…

…and then install brand new Karndean® glue-down vinyl plank flooring…

So your new floor can have the modern look of hardwood with less expense and less maintenance, just like this:

How’s your floor doing? Do you feel comfortable walking on it, or are you always wearing shoes in the house because the floor just seems a little bit gross at this point, to be honest? It doesn’t have to be that way. If you want your home to be both beautiful and relaxing, give us a call at (870) 845-1121 for your free estimate.

Make Room for the Sun

Since we’ve been on such a roll lately of showing ya’ll the home additions we’ve done, here’s another: a porch that grew big enough to become a sunroom too.

Before that could happen, we poured a concrete cap on the existing porch and added some new concrete as well, so the homeowners would still have some porch space after the addition was built:

As you can see, the new sunroom takes up all the original porch width:

We installed Alside® vinyl siding on the exterior walls of the addition:

The doors were Masonite® fiberglass, both the exterior door…

…and the French doors leading into the rest of the house:

Using Minwax® stain and Helmsman® polyurethane, we stained and varnished both the doors and the wooden trim surrounding the doors and the WeatherBarr® vinyl windows:

The drywall interior walls were covered in Valspar® paint, while the floors were clad with Shaw® vinyl plank flooring:

Even sunrooms can get too much sun, so we installed Levelor® window blinds in the Aged Oak color, as well as a Gree® mini-split AC/heat unit to keep the space comfortable in all seasons:

Lastly, on the front side of the house, we created a curved concrete walkway:

There’s just something about a curved walkway leading to the front door that gives a home a touch of elegance:

So there we have it, another homeowner who took the plunge and now has more space than he did a year ago, not to mention that nice walkway. What are your thoughts? Love it? Hate it? How would you design a little more space for your home?

Maybe you know exactly what kind of addition your home would love. Maybe you have only have a vague idea and need some help figuring out exactly what you want. Either way, a consultation with us is always free and our phone number is (870) 845-1121. It’s up to you. Do you want your house to be the same size a year from now?

Additions on House, Part 1.5 – Doors & Interior

Last time we watched the exterior progress of an addition on a house being built. Now it’s time to step inside this beautiful front door and see what happened to the interior.

But first, let’s stop and notice the wood-grain texture on this fiberglass exterior door:20180109_075707

Interior Remodel – Part 7 of 8

Your pantry and utility are two rooms which are pretty important to anyone who wants their house to be tidy, their things put away, and their clothes to be clean. If the center of order looks like a mess, what hope is there for the rest of your house? We’ve seen the transformations in the living room, the kitchen, the master en suite, the bedrooms, the guest bathroom, and the hallways.  This week, we discover what our homeowner chose to improve in her utility room and pantry.

Interior Remodel – Part 1 of 8

And Hostetler Handyman Service would be delighted to help you with that, just as we helped this lady in Nashville, AR, give her home a whole new look.

In this photo, demo has already begun:20160415_145750

We installed CertainTeed® drywall on the walls and ceiling:20160504_153149

The brown brick fireplace and wall, though pretty, didn’t quite match the theme the homeowner was looking for. So she had us paint all her brickwork, giving it a fresh new look:2016-07-11 11.14.032016-07-11 11.14.00We also installed a custom built-in bookshelf:2016-07-11 11.14.14In this close-up of the finished bookshelf you can see the doors installed at the bottom, as well as catch a glimpse of the new COREtec® One Doral Walnut vinyl plank flooring: IMG_1939

Bathroom Remodel

We did a full bathroom remodel for this gentleman near Nashville, AR.

One wall was taken up with two closets and a narrow shelf, as you can see in these before shots:

We removed one closet and the shelf to install a vanity and linen closet, as well as painting the walls and replacing the flooring. Here are the after photos:

For the shower, we removed the old one and moved the wall two feet, and then we built the new one using Marazzi tile:

After moving the shower wall over, there was enough space left on the other side for the new toilet and the cabinet above it:

We also removed the exterior door, replaced it with a Masonite door, and painted it:
